Reliable Wireless Connectivity in a Challenging Field Environment

The2026 Geological Disaster Rescue Joint Training Exercise in Xiaoyi Citywas recently conducted to simulate real-world geological disaster response scenarios. The exercise brought together complex terrain, structures, vehicles, and various types of equipment, creating a challenging environment for on-site video acquisition and wireless transmission.

To support live video recording and transmission during the exercise, two Thunder PRO-Duo wireless video transmission systems from CRYSTAL VIDEOwere deployed on site.

Despite challenging signal conditions and multiple physical obstructions, Thunder PRO-Duo provided a stable wireless video link throughout the exercise, supporting reliable transmission of high-quality audio and video signals.

Built for Non-Line-of-Sight Applications

Wireless video transmission in emergency response environments can be particularly challenging. Mountains, buildings, steel structures, vehicles, and other obstacles can disrupt signal paths, while multiple electronic devices operating simultaneously may further complicate the RF environment.

Thunder PRO-Duo is designed to address these challenges with strong penetration andnon-line-of-sight (NLOS) transmission capabilities.

During the Xiaoyi exercise, the system maintained stable connectivity despite multiple obstructions between the transmitting and receiving ends. This provided the production team with greater flexibility in camera placement and helped maintain a consistent video workflow throughout the operation.

Key Features for Professional Field Production

Strong Penetration and NLOS Transmission

Thunder PRO-Duo leverages an advanced RF solution to support stable wireless transmission in environments where a clear line of sight is not always available.

The system is capable of maintaining reliable connectivity through challenging environments involvingsteel structures, buildings, rocks, and other physical obstructions, making it suitable for emergency response and other demanding field applications.

Up to 1,000 m Transmission Range

Thunder PRO-Duo supports a transmission distance of up to1,000 meters, providing coverage for large training grounds and operational areas.

When paired with high-gain antennas, the transmission range can be further extended, giving production teams additional flexibility when deploying cameras and receivers across large sites.

Efficient H.265 Encoding

With support forH.265 encoding, Thunder PRO-Duo enables1080p60 high-definition video transmissionwhile helping reduce bandwidth requirements.

For multi-system deployments, two systems can operate on a single RF channel, helping simplify deployment and reduce the potential for interference when multiple wireless video systems are used at the same location.

Professional Connectivity and Control

Thunder PRO-Duo is designed to integrate into professional video production workflows and supports a comprehensive range of interfaces and features, including:

  • HDMI and SDI connectivity
  • Serial PTZ control
  • Tally
  • AES-128 encryption
  • Simultaneous output through multiple interfaces

These features make Thunder PRO-Duo suitable for a wide range of professional applications, including emergency response exercises, live sports, concerts, and large-scale events.

One Wireless Link, Multiple Applications

The requirements demonstrated during the Xiaoyi exercise are common across many professional field production environments. When cameras need to operate over distance or in locations where wired infrastructure is impractical, a reliable wireless video link becomes an essential part of the production workflow.

Fromemergency response and disaster relieftolive sports, concerts, and large-scale events, Thunder PRO-Duo provides the wireless connectivity required to support professional video transmission in challenging environments.

The Xiaoyi geological disaster rescue exercise provided a practical demonstration of this capability. With two Thunder PRO-Duo systems deployed on site,CRYSTAL VIDEO delivered stable wireless video transmission throughout the exercise, supporting the live recording and monitoring workflow.

Reliable Wireless Video for Demanding Environments

Professional video production increasingly takes place in environments where traditional wired connections are difficult to deploy. In these situations, wireless transmission must provide not only range, but also reliable connectivity, flexible deployment, and consistent performance.

Withlong-range transmission, NLOS capability, H.265 encoding, multi-system deployment support, and professional video interfaces, Thunder PRO-Duo is engineered for demanding wireless video applications in the field.

CRYSTAL VIDEO continues to develop professional wireless video transmission solutions for emergency response, live production, sports, entertainment, and other applications where reliable connectivity is essential.

Thunder PRO-Duo keeps every important moment reliably connected.

Looking ahead, CRYSTAL VIDEO will continue to develop professional wireless video transmission solutions that deliver reliable connectivity across emergency response, live production, large-scale sporting events, concerts, and other demanding applications.
